Watch Message- Mandatory Water Restricions
Mandatory Water Restrictions issued for The Woodlands
Due to continued extreme hot and dry weather and unprecedented water demand, The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency has issued MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS that limit outdoor irrigation to no more than two (2) days per week and no more than a total of one-inch of potable water applied per week.
To allow adequate pressure for early morning household needs, automatic irrigation timers should be set to complete all watering cycles by 4 a.m. Residential and commercial customers with an Even Numbered Address (0,2,4,6,8) are restricted to watering on Sundays and Thursdays ONLY; customers with an Odd Numbered Address (1,3,5,7,9) are restricted to watering on Saturdays and Wednesdays ONLY. Persons violating the irrigation schedule can be fined up to $200/day per violation.
The restrictions are a matter of public health and safety. Excessive lawn irrigation is the reason The Woodlands is unable to meet the current water demand. If our community adheres to the Mandatory Water Restriction irrigation schedule, adequate water will be available to meet the health and safety needs for the community.
For more information, please contact The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency at 281.367.1271 ext. 4, or visit www.wjpa.org.
