is anyone going to attend the one tonight or the one Saturday?

or, will it be any different than all the other information forums?

I don't think it will be any different than TCID's public forums. Very one-sided and in support of all the propositions. The panel consists of Nelda Blair (chairwoman of TCID Board), Joel Deretchin (President of TWA Board and senior VP for the Developer) and Jeff Long (President of WCA Board). All are known supporters of the propositions and of the VOICE PAC.

The Woodlands Decides (the organization putting this on tonight and Saturday) was supposed to be the community's "neutral" source of information. I think they've fallen a few hundred steps short of that objective. Sort of ticks me off that our assessment dollars were used to fund that operation and, from what I've been told, that TCID's attorney has to sign off on anything that comes out of it.

Might be fun (fun being a relative term, of course) to go and hear if they have a different "spin" on any of the issues. Some of it is getting old and not holding up too well to public scrutiny. I bet they'll have some new stuff for us tonight, though!

Yeah, I wonder how much of our money The Woodlands Decides has spent on this marketing campaign?

Speech Read at WCA Meeting 10/10/07

On October 24, 2006 Mr. Heath and Mr. Beller, as legal counsel for the WCSC, sent a
brief to the Attorney General regarding the applicability of the Public Information Act to
the WCSC.
In their brief, Mr. Heath and Mr. Beller, told the AG that the WCSC did not receive
public funds in whole or in part.
In a November 20, 2006 letter ruling, Assistant Attorney General Lisa V. Cubriel
concluded, “You [Mr. Heath and Mr. Beller as representatives of the WCSC] inform our
office that the [WCSC/]CATW does not receive public funds in whole or in part.
Consequently, based on your representation, we find that the [WCSC/]CATW is not a
governmental body under section 552.003 of the Act.”
Mr. Heath and Mr. Beller misled the AG by not disclosing the relationship between the
WCSC and TCID. TCID funds are public funds and as such, any TCID funds dispersed
or transferred to the WCSC would bring the WCSC under further AG scrutiny.
I recently received information through an open records request, which shows the WCSC
received more than $220,000 over the last year and a half from TCID. The documents
also prove the WCSC was receiving public funds at the time Mr. Heath and Mr. Beller
were claiming otherwise in their statements to the AG.
So, who knew that the WCSC was receiving public funds? Well, Mr. Norrell’s signature
is on two of the contracts in which TCID disperses funds to the WCSC. Mr. Beller also
signed a contract in which public funds were transferred from TCID to the WCSC and I
cannot imagine Ms. Sharp, as head of finance department for the WCSC, did not realize
the WCSC was receiving public funds from TCID.
Furthermore, as president of the WCSC Board, as an elected representative of the
residents of The Woodlands and as a practicing lawyer in the state of Texas, Mr. Tough
knows full well the seriousness of allowing such misinformation to be conveyed to the
highest law enforcement agency in the state. I believe, based on these circumstances, the
best course of action is for Mr. Tough to immediately resign from his position on the
WCSC board. He has failed his duty to the residents as well as his duty to his profession.
Additionally, Mr. Beller, who routinely performs attorney services for the WCSC, should
be made aware that his services are no longer required at any organization in The
Woodlands.
For WCA board members who are also lawyers, now that you have been made publicly
aware of this scenario, you have a professional duty to remedy it.
As for the rest of the WCA board, you are doing a huge disservice to the residents if you
do not correct this situation immediately.
Finally, in light of the erroneous information presented in the October 24, 2006 brief, I
have filed a State Bar of Texas grievance for professional misconduct against Mr. Heath
and Mr. Beller.

I have seen the presentation. It is basically the video on the web plus questions and answers. The second partis what is interesting. I was unable to make this one. I may be at Saturdays presentation.

OK MDONN - I have no idea why you posted that here. Why don't you leave that stuff on The Woodlands Monitor instead of transferring it here. Let them make the accusations and you just say there is another one to read if any interest. Just a suggestion .... I did not join this forum to have their stuff in my face all the time. It's like the monkey music I used to hear from that site. I stopped going there for my own reasons.

The monkey music only comes on if you hover over the Fluff Monkey :)

Maybe that was the intent, but in Linux, it was playing the entire time one had the main page displayed. I thought that was very irritating and not very professional, even if you just hover over the monkey. But I do not have an appetite for a lot of the stuff posted there anyway. I will go there to see a photo of an accident that has some relevance to life here, but that is about all. At first I thought it would be a good site, but it deteriorated in some mud throwing, accusations and a seemingly endless search for ways to slam people here. There is a much better way to question things.

Huh... I thought it was all quite appropriate and well-done. My 2nd most favorite site re: The Woodlands :D. Different strokes and all :)

Maybe you should ask Foz about the monkey and why it is there, instead of slamming him.

Confusing sites are ones that don't separate Botany from Politics. That is confusing.
