WOODLANDS RESIDENTS. WAKE-UP!!! WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE ANYWAY?!
People try to make it easy for you. Try to explain what’s going on. But, you’re acting like SHEEP. These TCID Propositions are designed for one thing and one thing only – to keep you and me in line. To prevent anyone asserting any kind of control over the “benevolent dictatorship” of The Woodlands Operating Company.
Look at the money that our kind benevolent dictator has poured into this election. Over $142K for one month alone. This after sanctimoniously stating on more that one occasion that they simply wanted us little Hobbits in The Shire to have the form of governance that we wanted.
News flash – WE WANT A CITY. An entity that, among things, CAN and WILL provide some oversight to the developer’s plans and give us local control, accountable to the RESIDENTS.
The Co-Chairs of the VOICE PAC have admitted that “THE PLAN” is to prevent incorporation of the area as a municipality.
The “irrational distrust” of those that are cramming this deal down our throats ain’t so irrational.
A special district will have no planning and zoning authority. Don’t you think it’s time the residents had some voice in this matter?
For years we’ve been told no commercial buildings will be higher than the surrounding tree level. Some have been told no higher than 2-3 stories.
Tell THAT to the people that bought homes in Herald Oaks on that promise, only to find a 4 story office building, with very little buffer, bumping up against their back yards.
You might also want to talk to the folks in Dove Trace about shopping center lights, traffic, noise, etc.
Look at the clear-cutting that’s going on all around us. And there’s this – ah – “exclamation point” butting up on the highway. I can think of another visual analogy, but I’m keepin’ it clean.
They promise that, in exchange for turning over the governance of the entire community to people we haven’t elected, we’ll get to save some money. We’ll get to replace assessment dollars for a deductible taxes. Of course, they don’t tell us fiscally-minded sheep that forking over your governance to the tune of a few hundred bucks starts to look like even LESS of a bargain when you factor in all of the new taxes that will be payable to this unelected board on things like cable, utility bills and other taxable services.
Let’s just ask Donald Trump and his band of Apprentices to take over the community for about 2 ½ years. Might be cheaper in the short run. Or maybe not.
And, now we learn about the BIG SWITCHEROO in terms of exactly how much of that new taxing authority is going to be available to fund public services. If you’re confused about that, all you have to do is wait until 11 days AFTER the election to find out what they’re up to.
This is stupid.
And if we vote for this, we are stupid too.
Either way, you get the governance you deserve.
